The Dorothy M. Hamilton and Fred Hamilton Foundation was established to support the following types of Section 501(c)(3) charitable organizations as potential recipients of contributions and grants:

(1) Organizations that provide for the global protection and welfare of all animals. Support shall be provided to organizations involved in either direct or indirect care of benefit of animals. Examples of organizations providing indirect care would include those who work through the legal, educational, or medical systems on behalf of animal welfare.

(2) Organizations that strive to improve the quality of life and opportunities of infants and small children by providing them with needed financial support, education, health care and basic needs. It is the intention to foster the economic, educational, emotional and social well-being of such infants and small children. Special emphasis shall be given to providing support for low-income and special needs infants and children.
